Languages 🌐

The app itself is available in nine languages: English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Danish and Hindi. You set it in Settings, in the Interface Language row, separately from the language you are learning — changing it never changes your stories or your language pair. Each language in that picker is listed under its own name — Español, Deutsch, 日本語 — the same form whichever language you are reading the app in. (The Your Language and Learning Language pickers instead show the name in your interface language with the language's own name in brackets beside it, e.g. Spanish (Español).)

Stories are written in the language you are learning. The languages you can learn are English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese and Danish. Hindi is the one language on the interface list that is never offered as a language to learn — it can be the language you already speak and read in, but not the one you are learning. That leaves eight languages to learn.
